God Forgives

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

It was John Newton, a reformed slave ship captain, who wrote this beloved hymn.

Why Art

The institutions of human society treat us as parts of a machine. They assign us ranks and place considerable pressure upon us to fulfill defined roles. We need something to help us restore our lost and distorted humanity. Each of us has feelings that have been suppressed and have built up inside. There is a voiceless cry resting in the depths of our souls, waiting for expression. Art gives the soul's feelings voice and form.

After reading reading I painted this...

Greg Finnegan said...
I see the cross, and he shadow of His body, and footprints in the sand. The great picture reminds me of this story:

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets, other times there was only one.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could only see one set of prints.

So I said to the Lord:
"You promised me Lord that if I followed you, You would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, dear Lord, when you were needed the most, have you not been there for me?"

The Lord replied:
"Ah, but the years when you have only seen one pair of footprints, my son - that's when I was carrying you."

I Am Angry

Poem 1/11/2011

Sometimes you will Find of me.
Language not found on land or at sea.

When I cry out The words tunble out
I then sound like a fool or lout.

To ppaint Is a must The anger out I thrust.
I use this energy or I would bust!

No matter the System,Man rules

In the West we can see for ourselves the major problems with capitalism. Should better democracies or socialism be the next step in trying to create a better world. I point out that no matter what form of society we live in, all social systems are run by individuals. To create a better world, instead of concentrating on systems like socialism, capitalism, or democracy, we should work to groom socially conscious individuals.

Lunt's World

Henry George Lunt

Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.
