Acceptance and Rejection: Two Sides of the Same Coin

If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced. (Vincent Van Gogh)Acceptance and rejection are two sides of a coin that must be invested and reinvested in the creative process. They are insights, holes in the walls that isolate us from the world around us and let in the light of understanding.

Forever Art

Forever Art

It hjas ben a long winter

Art will remain the most astonishing activity of mankind born out of struggle between wisdom and madness, between dream and reality in our mind.

I feellike this today

Part of my mind wants to paint, the otherside of it is troubled with emotions I can not change. My hands are like the limbs in the river. The mind is such a tender trap. I must break this mood and go on.

The Strange Tree

The Strange Tree

There’s a strange tree which lives near me, And this strange tree could not agree, That if this tree could ever see, A stranger tree it sure would be.
Hello, When ever we are down or depressed or feeling horrible about our work we should always watch this video.. I'm inspired for life.... I am not alone in what I feel!,for I also do not see.

Two mature trees provide enough oxygen for a family of four.

Well placed trees help cut energy costs and consumption by decreasing air conditioning costs 10-50% & reducing heating costs as much as 4-22%.
Trees are the longest living and largest living organisms on Earth.
People who plant trees become healthier, better looking, richer, and have more friends (well maybe that's stretching it a bit) - plant a tree and find out!

A Prayer in Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day; And give us not to think so far away As the uncertain harvest; keep us here All simply in the springing of the year. Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night; And make us happy in the happy bees, The swarm dilating round the perfect trees. And make us happy in the darting bird That suddenly above the bees is heard,The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill, And off a blossom in mid air stands still. For this is love and nothing else is love, The which it is reserved for God above To sanctify to what far ends He will,But which it only needs that we fulfil. Robert Frost Read poems about / on: happy, spring, god, night, love, flower, tree

The Tree Poem

Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918 Kilmer was killed in action by a sniper during World War I and is buried in the Oise-Aisne Cemetery, Fere-en-Tardenois, France.

119. Trees

I THINK that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

The Dam...THis not the dam it is the Des plaines river next to the Riverside Library and right next to Swan Pond.

Considering that Lyons artist Lloyd Bradbury likes to post a quote of the day on his blog [], perhaps a wise aphorism from his No. 1 fan and wife, Maria, most suitably describes his highly expressive artistic style.
"In your dreams, you can see," said Maria Bradbury. "When you are awake, you can't see anything. Your dreams see everything."
Welcome to the fantastic world of Lloyd Bradbury's abstract art. With apologies to the Chicken Soup series, Bradbury's "Surrealism for the Soul" approach to painting has essentially saved his life, while simultaneously providing countless viewers compelling art for thought.
"Art saves," said Bradbury, a legally blind artist who has sold over 100 paintings. "I used art as rehabilitation. It was an expression of self for me, and self had taken a pretty good beating."
